Updating: A List of the 3rd Editorial Board Members    

The Editorial Board Members of Journal of Coastal Life Medicine has been updated. The Editorial Board Members of JCLM come from five continents: America, Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. Brief introductions on some of the Editorial Board Members are as below.

Prof. Dr. Se-Kwon Kim is a senior professor in the Department of Chemistry and the director of the Marine Bioprocess Research Center (MBPRC) at Pukyong National University in the Republic of Korea. He was the president of the Korean Society of Chitin and Chitosan (1999-2000), the president of The Korean society of marine biotechnology (2005-2006) and the vice president of The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (2004-2005). His major research interests are investigation and development of bioactive substances derived from marine organisms and their application in oriental medicine, nutraceuticals, and cosmeceuticals via marine bioprocessing and mass-production technologies. To date, he has authored over 600 research papers and holds 152 patents. In addition, he has written or edited more than 60 books.

Prof. Dr. Jun Sun is the Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor of Tianjin University of Science and Technology. Prof. Sun has published more than 210 peer reviewed papers and received more than 1400 SCI citations. His research interests are marine plankton taxonomy and its related ecological and oceanographic studies.

Dr. Valerio Matozzo, has been a member of the Italian Association of Marine Biology, of the Italian Association of Developmental and Comparative Immunobiology, and of the Mediterranean Scientific Association of Environmental Protection. He is a researcher on marine biology and has a permanent position as a Researcher at the University of Padova. The main scientific interest of Dr. Valerio Matozzo is related to the use of marine invertebrates (mainly bivalves and crustacean) as bioindicators. Both laboratory and field studies are performed and particular attention is addressed to the measurement of immunomarkers in sentinel species.

Prof. Dr. Sergi Sabater is a Professor of Ecology at the University of Girona. He is Deputy Director of the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA). He has published more than 150 papers on ecology in international scientific journals and about 60 other contributions. His H-index is 32. He has taken part in more than 30 research projects and 20 R&D&i contracts with companies and government departments. His study area includes the ecology of algae and biofilms, the ecotoxicology of biofilms.

Prof. Dr. A. M. Abd El-Aty, Professor of Pharmacology, is a member of Korean Society of Agriculture and Environment, of Egyptian Society of Animal Management, of Egyptian Society of Physiology, of Egypt ian German Society of Zoology, and of the Italo_Latin American Asian and African Society of Ethomedicine. He has published about 150 papers in international scientific journals and more than 110 posters.

Dr. Santiago Mas-Coma is the Vice-President of International Federation for Tropical Medicine, Chairman of the Parasitology Department, University of Valencia, Spain, President of the European Federation of Parasitologists, President of the Spanish Society of Parasitology, and Member at Large of the Board of the International Federation of Tropical Medicine. He is also an Expert Member of the World Health Organization in Human Parasitology.

Prof. Dr. Graça Maria Pereira da Costa is an investigator of Universidade da Madeira, Member of American Society of Parasitology, European Association of Fish Pathologists, The Fisheries Society of the British Isles, Portuguese Society of Parasitology, ABRAPOA (Brazilian Association of Aquatic Animal Pathologists). Her present research interests: parasitology of marine fish species, specially histopathology, dynamics of parasite infections, ecological aspects of parasitism; parasites as indicators of ecosystem changes and biodiversity; spatial and temporal variations of bacterial agents as indicators of water quality; applied microbiology: quality assessment of flours and fish, used for human consumption.

Dr. Christopher Marlowe Arandela Caipang, Postdoctoral Researcher of Institute of Marine Research, is a member of National Research Council of the Philippines, of Philippine Society for Microbiology, and of World Aquaculture Society-Asian Pacific Chapter. His research interests are on the host-pathogen interactions in the marine environment/aquaculture, environmental microbiology in the marine ecosystem and disease diagnostics in aquaculture.

Dr. Jong-Yil Chai, is a Professor of Department of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, Seoul National University, served as Treasurer of International Federation for Tropical Medicine, President of the Korean Society for Parasitology, and a member of the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences, Korean Academy of Science and Technology, American Society of Parasitologists, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Society of Protozoologists, Society for Mucosal Immunology, and Helminthological Society of Washington, Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Japanese Society of Parasitology. He published over 500 peer-reviewed academic papers in the field of parasitology and tropical medicine.
